I had stumbled upon many videos of Russians, 3Run, The Cambridge Traceurs, and Yamakasi. Watching athletes perform such great skills caught my attention enough to lead me into pursuing the same movements. A friend and I begin practicing a great deal of push-ups, pull-ups, quadrupedal, and standing jumps. A year or so later, we then begin the movements we sometimes see in parkour today.
The practice has taught me the importance of breaking obstacles down into progressions. Whether the challenge is a jump, a fear, opening a gym, completing university – learning how to see the small steps to reach a goal has served me well.
Twenty-six and a half. I haven’t counted the growth rings though.
To create and maintain a space that can sustain myself and others however we see fit – physically, financially, emotionally.
The practice of parkour is a tool that I can help me connect with and to challenge others.
